Insurance Policy

Last updated: 2 May 2026 · Version: 2.1 · Underwritten by Cornerstone Insurance PLC (NAICOM RIC008). This page is the public-facing summary of the insurance arrangements Domesty has put in place with Cornerstone Insurance PLC for tasks transacted on the Domesty platform.

Cornerstone Insurance

1. Purpose and Scope

1.1 Domesty provides platform-level insurance designed to enhance trust, safety, and accountability for services transacted through the Domesty platform.

1.2 This policy defines the conditions under which insurance applies, including eligibility, scope of cover, activation requirements, exclusions, claims handling, and user obligations.

1.3 Coverage applies only to Approved Tasks conducted within the territorial limits specified in the applicable Schedule. The current territory is Nigeria. Additional territories may be introduced through formal endorsements and jurisdiction-specific schedules.

1.4 Where this page conflicts with the bound Cornerstone Schedule, the Schedule prevails.

2. Parties and Status

2.1 Insurer: Cornerstone Insurance PLC, authorised and regulated by NAICOM (RIC008). Head office: 21 Water Corporation Drive, Off Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

2.2 Policyholder: Domesty Technologies Limited.

2.3 Insured Parties: Domesty Technologies Limited is the primary insured under this policy. Coverage extends to customers and service providers only where liability arises from an Approved Task, the relevant insurance module is active, and all policy conditions are satisfied.

2.4 Marketplace participants are not automatically insured parties unless explicitly included under the relevant coverage section and Schedule.

3. Definitions

3.1 Approved Task: A task created, accepted, executed, and paid for entirely within the Domesty platform under an Approved Category (see section 5).

3.2 Approved Category: A service category listed in section 5 as covered under one or more insurance modules.

3.3 Activation Window: The period during which insurance must be in force for a task to be eligible for coverage. The Activation Window opens when a task is accepted on the platform and closes at task completion or task cancellation, whichever is earlier. Coverage purchased after this window does not apply to that task.

3.4 Care, Custody, or Control: Customer property temporarily entrusted to a service provider for the execution of an Approved Task.

3.5 Customer: A verified user who posts or commissions a task on the platform.

3.6 Service Provider: A verified user who accepts and performs a task on the platform.

3.7 Insurance Active: Coverage is valid only where it has been activated via an eligible Domesty Pro subscription or a confirmed per-task insurance add-on, in each case purchased within the Activation Window.

3.8 Schedule: The official policy documentation issued by Cornerstone, including limits, deductibles, territorial scope, applicable categories, and endorsements.

3.9 Verified User: A user who has satisfied Domesty's KYC and verification requirements applicable to the service category.

3.10 Single Article Limit: The maximum sum insured payable in respect of any one item under the Bailee module.

4. Coverage Snapshot

The following figures summarise the insurance modules currently bound under the Cornerstone Schedule. All figures are in Nigerian Naira (₦). Excesses (deductibles) are the user's responsibility on each and every claim. Once an Annual Aggregate is exhausted, that module provides no further cover until renewal or top-up.

4.1 Professional Indemnity (PI)
Covers financial loss caused to a client by professional negligence, errors, or omissions in an Approved Task. Limit per loss: ₦1,000,000. Annual aggregate: ₦10,000,000. Excess: ₦250,000 or 10% of claim, whichever is greater.

4.2 General Third-Party Liability (GTPL)
Covers legal liability for accidental bodily injury or property damage to third parties arising from an Approved Task. Limit per loss: ₦1,500,000. Annual aggregate: ₦15,000,000. Excess: ₦100,000 or 10% of claim, whichever is greater.

4.3 Bailee All-Risk (BAR)
Covers physical loss or damage to customer property in the service provider's care, custody, or control during an Approved Task, subject to strict evidentiary requirements. Single Article Limit: ₦2,500,000. Items valued below ₦50,000 or above ₦2,500,000 are not covered unless pre-declared and accepted in writing before the task starts. Excess: ₦100,000 or 10% of claim, whichever is greater.

4.4 Fidelity Guarantee (FG)
Covers direct financial loss resulting from proven dishonest acts of scheduled persons. Domesty's Schedule covers up to 100 freelance service providers in repair, creative, and digital support roles on a blanket basis. Limit per loss: ₦500,000. Annual aggregate: ₦5,000,000. Excess: ₦250,000 or 10% of claim, whichever is greater.

4.5 Goods-in-Transit (GIT)
Covers loss or damage to goods (furniture, equipment, food parcels, party and event supplies) during transportation associated with an Approved Task. Material Damage cover is included. Limit per carriage: ₦1,000,000. Annual aggregate: ₦10,000,000. Excess: ₦300,000 or 10% of claim, whichever is greater.

5. Approved Categories

Only tasks in the categories listed below are eligible for insurance under the current Schedule. Tasks posted or accepted in a category not listed here are not insured even if all other conditions are met.

5.1 Home & Maintenance Services - covered by GTPL.

5.2 Repair Services (general) - covered by GTPL, and by FG where the provider is on the Fidelity schedule.

5.3 Repair Services - Jewellery & Watch Repair - covered by GTPL, FG, and BAR (Bailee All-Risk).

5.4 IT & Tech Services - covered by PI.

5.5 Creative & Design Services - covered by PI, and by FG where the provider is on the Fidelity schedule.

5.6 Tutoring & Educational Services - covered by PI.

5.7 Events & Hospitality - covered by GIT.

5.8 Delivery & Transportation - covered by GIT.

5.9 Categories not currently insured: Admin & Business Support, Health & Fitness, Personal Services, Fashion & Design, Agricultural Services, Pet Services, Property, and standalone Rental Services. Tasks in these categories are not covered. Domesty is in active discussion with Cornerstone to extend the Schedule. Any extension will take effect only on issue of a written endorsement and an updated version of this page.

6. Coverage Trigger and Activation

6.1 Coverage applies only where:
The task qualifies as an Approved Task in an Approved Category;
The relevant insurance module was Insurance Active at the time of the incident;
All payments relating to the task were completed through the Domesty escrow system.

6.2 Activation occurs through a valid per-task insurance add-on purchased within the Activation Window. Cover is opted into on the task in every case. A Domesty Pro subscription reduces the price of that add-on but does not by itself activate cover on any task.

6.3 No retroactive activation is permitted after an incident or after a task has commenced.

6.4 Each module operates independently. Activation of one module does not activate the others.

7. Eligibility and Risk Controls

A task is not insured unless a per-task insurance add-on is purchased and confirmed before task execution. This applies on every plan, including Domesty Pro. If a task is posted or accepted in a category not listed in section 5, coverage will not apply even if payment is made on the platform.

7.1 All parties must meet Domesty's minimum verification standards prior to task acceptance.

7.2 All payments must be completed through Domesty's escrow system. Off-platform transactions invalidate coverage.

7.3 Tasks must fall within Approved Categories (section 5) and comply with applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.

7.4 Subcontracting notice: Reassigning, subcontracting, or otherwise transferring a task to another person outside the Domesty platform voids coverage for that task. Subcontracting is permitted only where conducted through Domesty and explicitly allowed for the category.

7.5 Adequate documentation must exist, including:
Task scope;
Time-stamped communication;
Pre and post-service evidence (photographs or video where practicable);
Item condition records where applicable.

Failure to meet evidentiary standards may result in claim denial.

8. Exclusions

The following are not covered under any module unless expressly endorsed in the Schedule. This list summarises the exclusions and warranties contained in the Cornerstone Schedule. The Schedule prevails.

8.1 General exclusions
8.1.1 Tasks conducted outside the Domesty platform.

8.2.8 A Goods-in-Transit certificate must be issued for each carriage.

8.3 Bailee specific conditions
8.3.1 A Single Article Limit applies. Items above the Single Article Limit are not covered unless pre-declared and accepted in writing before the task starts.
8.3.2 An Inventory Clause and a Documentary Evidence Warranty apply: the provider must maintain an inventory of items in their care and produce documentary evidence on claim.
8.3.3 Breach of conditions voids cover for the affected task.

8.4 Fidelity Guarantee specific conditions
8.4.1 Discovery period: 12 months from the date of the act.
8.4.2 A Documentary Evidence Warranty, Daily Checking of Transactions requirement, and Designation of Property Clause apply.
8.4.3 Cover applies only to persons scheduled (the freelance providers named on the Fidelity schedule from time to time).

8.5 Professional Indemnity specific conditions
8.5.1 PI is written on a claims-made-and-reported basis. Claims must be both made against the insured and reported to Domesty during the policy period or any agreed extended reporting period. Acts that occurred before the retroactive date in the Schedule are excluded.
8.5.2 An infidelity exclusion applies.
8.5.3 "No premium, no cover": cover does not attach until premium has been paid and confirmed.

9. User Responsibilities

Users must:

9.1 Provide accurate task descriptions.

9.2 Maintain complete records and evidence (scope of work, communications, photographs, item condition records).

9.3 Comply with applicable safety standards, licences, and laws.

9.4 Use qualified personnel for regulated work.

9.5 Cooperate fully during claims investigations.

9.6 Not attempt to settle, admit liability for, or offer payment in respect of any potential claim without first notifying Domesty.

Failure to meet these obligations may void coverage.

10. Claims Process

10.1 Notification
Claims must be reported as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event no later than thirty (30) days from the date of the incident or completion of the task.
Users are strongly advised to notify Domesty immediately after any incident to preserve evidence and support claim assessment.

10.2 Documentation
Required evidence includes:
Task ID and platform records;
Incident details and timeline;
Communication logs;
Visual evidence (photographs, video, where available);
Financial documentation supporting the claimed amount;
For Bailee claims: pre-task and post-task item condition records and inventory;
For GIT claims: the carriage certificate and trip records.

10.3 Assessment
Claims are assessed by Cornerstone based on eligibility, causation, and policy applicability. Domesty supports the assessment process by providing platform records and verification data.

10.4 Decision and Settlement
Resolution timelines follow the insurer's service standards. Approved claims are settled in accordance with policy limits, the applicable excess, and the conditions in the Schedule.

10.5 Fraud
Fraudulent claims will be denied and may result in account sanctions, recovery of any sums paid, and legal action.

10.6 Subrogation and Platform Recourse
The insurer retains subrogation rights against liable third parties. In addition, where Domesty makes any payment in respect of an uninsured loss, or where coverage is voided due to a user's breach of these terms, Domesty reserves the right to recover that amount from the responsible user and to apply platform-level sanctions.

11. Limits, Deductibles, and Aggregates

11.1 All coverage is subject to the limits, excesses, and aggregates set out in section 4 and the Schedule.

11.2 Where an excess is expressed as a fixed amount or a percentage of the claim "whichever is greater", the higher figure applies.

11.3 Domesty may adjust limits through endorsements as risk exposure evolves. Any change will be reflected on this page and notified to active users in advance of taking effect.

12. Premiums and Fees

12.1 Coverage is purchased per task. Domesty Pro members pay a reduced price for the same cover.

12.2 Pricing varies by category, geography, risk profile and the value of the task, and is disclosed at the point of per-task purchase.

12.3 All applicable fees and taxes are disclosed in checkout.

13. Governance and Compliance

13.1 The policy is governed by applicable insurance regulations under NAICOM.

13.2 Domesty reserves the right to audit users and enforce compliance.

13.3 Categories or users may be restricted where risk controls are insufficient.

14. Data Protection

14.1 By using insured services on the platform, users consent to the sharing of relevant task and identity data with Cornerstone for underwriting, risk assessment, and claims handling.

14.2 Data shared: name and contact details, KYC verification status, task details (category, scope, location, timing), payment confirmation, evidence submitted in connection with a claim, and prior claims history on the platform.

14.3 Lawful basis (NDPR): performance of a contract and the data subject's consent.

14.4 Recipients: Cornerstone Insurance PLC; its appointed loss adjusters and legal advisers in connection with a claim; NAICOM and other regulators where required by law.

14.5 Retention: personal data is retained for the policy period and for so long thereafter as is necessary to handle any claim or to comply with legal obligations.

14.6 For full details, see the Domesty Privacy Policy.

15. Branding and Representation

15.1 Any reference to insurance coverage in Domesty marketing, in-app messaging, or third-party communications must comply with Cornerstone's branding and approval guidelines and reflect the current Schedule.

15.2 Marketing representations do not alter policy terms. In case of conflict, the Schedule and this page prevail.

16. Duration and Amendments

16.1 Coverage applies only within the Policy Period defined in the active Schedule. The current Policy Period is set out in the Schedule on file and is available on request.

16.2 Domesty may update this policy summary to reflect operational or regulatory changes, or amendments to the Schedule. Material changes will be notified to active users in advance.

16.3 No coverage applies where insurance is not Insurance Active for a task.

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Claims disputes follow the insurer's formal resolution process.

17.2 Without prejudice to your other rights, you may escalate unresolved insurance disputes to the NAICOM Complaints Bureau at naicom.gov.ng/complaints, or by writing to the National Insurance Commission, Plot 1239, Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Garki II, Abuja.

17.3 Unresolved disputes may proceed to arbitration or to a competent court in Nigeria, in accordance with the Schedule. The jurisdiction clause in the Schedule is Nigeria.

18. Category Application Framework

Coverage applicability is determined by task category, risk classification, and active endorsements at the time of the task. The current category-to-coverage mapping is set out in section 5 and is also reflected in the platform at the point of task creation. The mapping is updated when the Schedule is endorsed.

19. Operational Guidance for Users

Users are expected to:

19.1 Maintain proper documentation for every task.

19.2 Record item condition before and after handling for any task involving care, custody, or control of customer property.

19.3 Define scope clearly for professional services.

19.4 Ensure proper packaging and handling for transport and delivery tasks, and confirm a Goods-in-Transit certificate has been issued before commencement.

19.5 Notify Domesty immediately of any incident, even if no claim is initially expected.

20. Contact and Claims
