1. Eligibility, Identity, and Verification
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter contracts.
You must use your legal name and a clear profile photo. No aliases for identity fields.
Verification is required before creating tasks or making offers. Level 1 KYC includes date of birth, billing address, bank details, mobile verification (via WhatsApp or SMS one-time-password), and a profile photo. Level 2 "Verified" requires a government-issued ID and proof of address, processed through Dojah identity, liveness, and government-data checks.
Businesses must provide accurate business names, registration details, and any required licences for regulated services.
Do not share or sell accounts. One person, one account.
2. Professional Conduct
Be respectful, on time, and responsive.
Communicate clearly about scope, location, timing, and constraints before work starts.
Do not use abusive, discriminatory, threatening, or sexually explicit language.
No unsolicited romantic advances or harassment on or off the platform.
Attend scheduled appointments. If you cannot, give reasonable notice and follow the cancellation rules in the Terms and Conditions, section 9.
3. Task Creation and Offers
Describe tasks clearly with measurable outcomes, access needs, and any special requirements.
Set realistic budgets and timelines. If scope changes, update the task or agree a formal change in-app before proceeding.
Only make offers you can fulfil. Do not lowball to win and upcharge later without scope-change approval.
Do not post duplicate or spam tasks.
Do not post tasks that are illegal, unsafe, or prohibited (see section 4).
4. Prohibited Tasks and Content
Illegal activities, stolen goods, hacking, or evading law enforcement.
Weapons, explosives, illegal drugs, prescription-drug procurement, or related paraphernalia.
Adult or escort services, sexually explicit content, or voyeuristic recording.
Unlicensed professional services where licensing is required, including medical, dental, legal representation, immigration advice, and electrical or gas work where a licence or certification is mandated.
Alcohol, tobacco, or controlled items handled contrary to local laws or platform rules.
Cash-handling, cash pickups, cryptocurrency transfers on behalf of others, or money-movement tasks resembling remittance or cash-out work.
Misleading reviews, fake identities, or attempts to manipulate ratings or visibility.
Any content that is hateful, violent, exploits children, or encourages self-harm.
Domesty reviews the text you submit (tasks, offers, comments, and profile details) and the images you upload, using a mix of automated checks and human review. Private messages between matched users are not proactively screened, but we may review them when they are reported to us. Content that shares contact details before a match, steers payment or work off the platform, or is a scam, illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit is blocked when you submit it, or removed shortly afterwards.
Uploaded images (profile photos, portfolios, and task photos) are checked moments after they appear for explicit or inappropriate content and for contact details shown or written on the image, which is a common way to try to move a deal off the platform. Images that break these rules are removed automatically and you are notified by email and in-app. A deliberate breach also adds a strike to your account (see section 17).
5. Health, Safety, and Property Access
Prioritise safety at all times. Stop work if conditions are unsafe and report issues to Domesty.
Use appropriate tools, PPE, and safe methods. Comply with building and site rules.
For in-home tasks, agree access arrangements in the chat and respect privacy and household rules.
No recording inside private property without explicit consent.
Children and vulnerable persons must not be left in the sole care of an unvetted provider, and any task involving minors or vulnerable adults must follow all local safeguarding laws.
6. Payments, Escrow, and Off-Platform Activity
All payments must go through Domesty's escrow. No cash, bank transfers, gift cards, mobile-money, PayPal, or any payment outside the platform.
Do not solicit, accept, or invite off-platform work for any task posted on or arising from Domesty. The off-platform exclusivity period is twelve (12) months from the date a Customer and Service Provider are first connected on the platform (Terms and Conditions, section 12).
Do not delay marking completion or releasing payment once the agreed work is done. If a Customer does not confirm completion within three (3) days of the Service Provider requesting payment and no dispute is raised, escrow auto-releases to the Service Provider.
Tips or add-ons must be processed in-app.
Fee avoidance, price steering, or asking to cancel and "deal directly" is a serious breach. It can result in a circumvention Penalty Charge equal to the Service Fee that would have been earned, suspension, and account removal, and voids any insurance protection on the affected task.
7. Insurance and Coverage Expectations
Insurance applies only on Approved Tasks where the relevant module is active under the Insurance Policy. The Insurance Policy at /insurance-policy lists the categories that are insured and the categories that are not.
Coverage is provided through five modules: Professional Indemnity (financial loss from professional errors), General Third-Party Liability (third-party injury or property damage during a task), Bailee All-Risk (loss or damage to a Customer's property in a Service Provider's care, currently for Jewellery and Watch Repair only), Fidelity Guarantee (proven dishonest acts of scheduled providers), and Goods-in-Transit (loss or damage to goods during transport for Events & Hospitality and Delivery & Transportation tasks). Limits, excesses, and the Single Article Limit for Bailee are set out in the Insurance Policy.
Coverage does not replace a warranty or guarantee of workmanship. Coverage is void for off-platform payments, off-platform subcontracting, and tasks outside the defined territory.
You must follow all safety, verification, and payment rules to remain eligible.
Report incidents promptly and in any event no later than thirty (30) days from the date of the incident or completion of the task. Provide evidence as outlined in section 10.
8. Quality, Completion, and Rework
Only mark a task complete when the agreed work is finished to a reasonable professional standard.
If work is incomplete or defective, the Service Provider must make a reasonable attempt to remedy within a mutually agreed time.
If a Customer blocks reasonable access to remedy, Domesty may deem the task complete for payment purposes.
For specialist trades, workmanship standards should align with applicable codes and manufacturer guidance.
9. Cancellations and No-Shows
If a party cannot proceed, request a cancellation in-app with a clear reason.
Repeated no-shows, late cancellations without good reason, or abuse of the cancellation system will affect account standing and may incur fees as set out in the Terms and Conditions, section 9.
Where materials were purchased or significant time incurred, Domesty may authorise partial compensation if supported by evidence and platform rules.
10. Disputes and Evidence
Keep all communication and agreements in Domesty chat. This is your record.
When raising a dispute, provide clear evidence such as before-and-after photos, time-stamped messages, call logs, invoices, condition records, and expert assessments where relevant.
Do not post private information publicly. Domesty will review evidence and may release funds, authorise partial refunds, or request rework based on policy and fairness, in accordance with the dispute process in the Terms and Conditions, section 10.
Abusive or threatening behaviour during disputes will result in enforcement action.
11. Reviews and Reputation
Leave honest, constructive reviews focused on the work, timeliness, communication, and professionalism.
Do not offer or request incentives for positive reviews. Do not threaten negative reviews to gain concessions.
Personal attacks, hate speech, or irrelevant private information are not allowed and may be removed.
A task can be reviewed only once it is completed, and each party may leave one review per task. You can update your review, but you cannot stack multiple ratings to influence someone's score.
Review timing and visibility follow the Reviews and Ratings rules in the Terms and Conditions, section 7.
12. Domesty Pro Standards
Pro members receive a reduced 5% Service Fee, increased visibility, priority offer placement, and other benefits set out at /pricing. In return, higher standards apply.
Maintain near-instant messaging responsiveness during working hours, clear quotes with itemised scope, and accurate arrival windows.
Keep licences and certifications current and uploaded.
Repeated cancellations, poor dispute conduct, or off-platform solicitation will result in loss of Pro status.
13. Data, Privacy, and Contact Exchange
Do not share phone numbers, emails, or social handles before a match unless explicitly enabled in-app.
Do not publish personal contact details in profiles or public comments.
Do not put contact details in images either. Profile photos, portfolio pictures, and task photos are checked, and any image that shows or has a phone number, email address, social handle, or physical address written on it will be removed.
Use shared information only for the task at hand and delete it when no longer needed.
For full details on how Domesty handles personal data, see the Privacy Policy.
14. Anti-Fraud, Multiple Accounts, and Platform Integrity
Do not create multiple accounts or misrepresent identity, skills, or certifications.
Do not manipulate location, reviews, or pricing through collusion.
Do not exploit bugs or scrape data. Report vulnerabilities responsibly to hello@domesty.co.
15. Tasks Involving Possession of Property or Item Access
Some tasks involve a Service Provider taking possession of a Customer's property (for example, a watch for repair, a vehicle for servicing, equipment for transport) or a Service Provider making an item available for the Customer's use. Domesty is not a party to those arrangements, but the following good-practice rules apply:
Provide accurate item descriptions, photos, condition notes, and replacement value before handover.
Take and upload time-stamped photos or videos at handover and at return or completion.
Agree any deposit, return time, late-return fee, and damage liability in writing through the Platform before the task starts. Deposits, where applicable, must be processed in-app. No cash deposits.
Where an item must be returned, return it in the same condition received, save for fair wear and tear.
Late return, damage, or loss is a matter between the parties. Where the task category is covered by Bailee All-Risk under the Insurance Policy (currently Jewellery and Watch Repair only), the Insurance Policy applies; otherwise, the parties resolve it directly, with Domesty's dispute process available under section 10.
Deliberate misrepresentation of an item's condition or value is a breach and may lead to account removal.
16. Regulated and Sensitive Categories
Where a licence is required, only licensed providers may perform the work and must show proof on request.
No medical diagnosis, prescription, or invasive procedures on Domesty. First aid within certification limits is allowed where lawful.
Legal and immigration advice must be given only by qualified and authorised practitioners in the relevant jurisdiction.
Locksmithing, gas, electrical, and alarm work must meet local regulations and standards.
Passenger transport is permitted only where the Service Provider holds all required permits and insurance.
17. Enforcement and Consequences
Domesty may take action for breaches, including content removal, warning notices, temporary holds on funds, feature limits, suspension, Pro removal, and permanent account closure.
Some breaches add a strike to your account. Strikes come from things like cancelling a task you had committed to, being found at fault in a cancellation dispute, or a deliberate content or image violation. If you reach three (3) active strikes within any 90-day period your account is temporarily suspended; repeatedly cancelling your own tasks can trigger the same suspension. While suspended you cannot post tasks, make offers, or receive payments. You can see your strikes, and appeal any you believe are unfair, from the Penalties page in your profile.
Serious breaches such as fraud, threats, hate speech, or attempts to bypass escrow can lead to immediate removal.
Domesty may withhold or release funds per policy during investigations and may cooperate with law enforcement.
You may appeal an enforcement decision by emailing hello@domesty.co with new or clarifying evidence within thirty (30) days of the action. Domesty will respond within fifteen (15) business days.
18. Reporting
Use the report feature on tasks, profiles, or messages to flag issues.
For urgent safety risks, contact local authorities first, then notify Domesty at hello@domesty.co.
False or malicious reports are themselves a breach.
19. Local Law and Jurisdiction
Follow all applicable laws, codes, and standards in your location.
The Platform currently operates in Nigeria and is subject to Nigerian law. Where local regulations are stricter than these Guidelines, the stricter standard applies.
20. Updates
Domesty may update these Guidelines to reflect law changes, safety learnings, or product updates.
Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email at least thirty (30) days in advance, in line with the Terms and Conditions, section 23. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the new version.
